Jason Scott is one of my all-time favorite documentarians people geniuses. As the creator of textfiles.com and the steward of many audacious, important online projects, he’s a certified expert on the unreasonably recent past.
As it turns out, the unreasonably recent past has a great deal to tell us about the immediate future. I’ve always admired Jason’s ability to take the pulse of current events, put them in context, and then project the conclusions forward. With his talk “Before the LOL,” at ROFLCon in 2008 (excerpted by our good friends Rocketboom, above), Jason offered an outlandish, prescient take on where the memetic web came from and where it was headed.
And so, you can imagine how thrilled I am to announce that Jason Scott will be speaking at CaseCamp Benefit! Every conference I’ve ever seen him at has been made magnitudes more novel and fascinating by his presence. I’m so excited that he’ll be at ours.
